Use Chemistry with Customers to Sell
How a customer feels with you is a big part of whether they will buy or not. Most people avoid hiring someone they are uncomfortable with. Sometimes clashes in personality are unavoidable. But in most cases, there are things you can do to create good chemistry between yourself and a client.
Obviously, it is important to try and be friendly and courteous to your customers. It's really quite simple. Smile and look them in the eye. If you are respectful to your customers and help them feel cared about, you will often see the same reaction in return.
Show an interest in what your customer is interested in. If I find some aspect of their project particularly exciting or interesting, I try to show that excitement. At the very least, you'll give the customer some encouragement--something most of us could use.
Treat each as an individual. A customer can tell whether you are truly interested in helping them. Try asking them about themselves. Show your customers you wish to know them on a personal level as well as a professional one.
Make sure that you listen. No matter how smart, right, or good you are, sometimes it's best to just be quiet. If you talk too much you may come across as overconfident and possibly arrogant. Many customers cannot stand someone who doesn't listen to their questions or concerns. If you put the customer before yourself, you're sure to have a better chance of making that sale!

I Don't Have A Clue About Relationship Marketing
I just signed up for a new affiliate program that is the flavor of the month at the Warriors Forum. It is a very hot topic which made me notice the differences in the style of postings between the men and women.
This is the type of program that could be called an example of multilevel marketing (MLM), network marketing or relationship marketing. These terms are often used interchangeably but they really have different meanings.
MLM is merely a description of a confusing (usually) compensation plan and network marketing is a phrase that allows one to avoid saying MLM but relationship marketing is a completely different animal which presents a real problem for the male of the species.
The guru secret of the day: Guys aren't real good with relationships. (The ladies are nodding in agreement and most of the males are shaking their heads in denial.) Ladies, you already know we aren't sensitive to your emotional needs, we don't listen very well and we don't share our feelings or vulnerabilities with you unless we are in big trouble or need to score points. Well, we don't do that stuff with other guys either.
When males interact it's mostly competitive stuff like sports or poker. We don't have "meaningful" conversations at these activities. It's all about winning and losing and nurturing is never mentioned. When guys promote an "opportunity" there's a lot of stuff about pre-launch, get in early before it's too late, if you snooze you lose.
Women, on the other hand, are constantly building relationships. You are naturally social and are willing to share intimate personal details with complete strangers.
Last month I was waiting for the dentist to finish scrubbing my son's teeth when a lady (who didn't seem to notice I was intently reading a book) initiated a conversation (more like a monologue) and shared the details of her post partum experiences including the subsequent increase in shoe size and misalignment of her jaw. (I must have seemed incredulous that having babies would change the shape of bones at opposite ends as she shared continuous anecdotal evidence for at least 30 minutes.)
Relationship building is so inherent with women that a visit to a public bathroom is a group activity (no wonder the lines are so long).
So here's my problem, I signed up for a program that has a low cost ISP service as a product and has a business opportunity which is also low cost. This looks like a classic example of relationship marketing which, as I've already admitted, is a hopeless undertaking for me.

What's the Hypnotic Marketing Secret?

Let's face it. Secrets are hypnotic.
Secrets of a Marketing Maverick, 7 Secrets Of Success, Joint venture Secrets Revealed, Marketing Secrets Of a Mail Order Guru, Killer Copy Writing Secrets, the list goes on.
Why do we have so many secrets anyway? Is there really so much we don't know?
People cannot stand having a secret kept from them.
Can you?
You're reading this article probably because you think that there is a Hypnotic Marketing Secret don't you?
Do I know something that you don't?
Maybe. Maybe not.
But if I do reveal something to you that you do NOT know, then you would have discovered a SECRET.
So what is the Hypnotic Marketing Secret?
The secret, is to create one. One that'll almost instantaneously make your marketing Hypnotic.
Read that again. The secret, is to CREATE one.
Make your readers feel like something is being kept from them. The more scandalous, the better! Go ahead, sensationalize the "Secret". Have a ball!
By creating a secret, and a sense of mystery around the product I intend to sell, I sell HOPE to my reader. This HOPE that I create, will SUCK my reader into my copy.
All I have to do, is continue selling HOPE in my copy.
By now, you should be either scratching your head or having an ah-ha! moment.
Here's my Amazing Hypnotic Marketing Formula:
<<Secret = Hope = Sales = Cash In My Pocket = <GRIN>
Say I'm selling a weight loss product. I may structure my headline, like this:
"Shocking Secret Report Reveals That The Weight Loss Industry Is Conspiring To Keep People Fat!"
Now this rude wowser of a headline does two things:
1) It makes the reader think that something is being kept from them, that they do not know. And that something is keeping them fat!
2) The reader will be assured that it's NOT his/her fault that he/she is fat.
Now, the reader will be in the "I knew it all along" mind set, and will devour every word of the sales letter like a carnivore.
Why? Because you just sold them HOPE!
They want to discover the very thing that is hidden from them which is preventing them from reaching their goals.
The reader is happy because it is NOT their fault that they're fat. It is not because they did not exercise, did not watch their diet and therefore they cannot lose weight, even though that could possibly be the brutal truth.
There is HOPE after all! People don't WANT the truth. They can't HANDLE the truth.
You can't tell them that the reason they're fat is because they do not exercise and they eat like there's no tomorrow.
You can't tell them that they're not making money because they're not doing anything, and simply sitting there hoping to become millionaires overnight.
Shocking isn't it? People WANT HOPE. HOPE is a universal need. HOPE makes your marketing hypnotic.
Imagine how much more receptive the reader will be in that frame of mind? Your product becomes THE solution. It's the HOPE that your reader needs to "defeat" the conspiracy that prevents them from attaining their goals!
What would that do for your sales? Would that put a GRIN on your face when you see your sales explode?
