Hey!
Good Day to you and I hope your day is going well so far! :)
Welcome to all our new subscribers this week and I hope you grow
to love us as so many have ... we couldn't do this without you!
It's been a hard week for me ... I stayed up late last night just so I could get this issue together since I KNEW I would sleep in and get the issue out too late if I didn't ... :)
I've been ill and the doc has no idea yet -- did some tests and put me on some antibiotics ... let's hope it does the trick! :P I've got a grossly swollen lymph node that won't seem to go away and it's starting to get a bit bothersome to say the least. The doc and I both think it's just sinusitis, but we'll see. The lethargy is what is so irritating! I know I have so much to do but I can't get my body and brain to start working! :)
My best friend's wedding is tomorrow ... I'm a bridesmaid (is there any such thing as a 'bride matron', by the way?) and my 4 year old son is the ring bearer. I'm a little worried about how Braden will react when he walks in to a room of over 200 people -- I think he'll do OK, but he CAN get shy sometimes ... :)
Anyhow, enough about my personal life ... :P
Here's this week's discussion post:
--------------------------------------------
With all the new spam laws and spam cases out there, does it
only seem to be making the junk emails worse? I get more than
400 emails a day and more than half of that is JUNK! I bet I
spend more than 2 hours a day weeding through the crap.
I've heard a lot of talk about how email marketing will be dead
soon ... do you believe that?
In my opinion ....
--------------------------------------------
Please join in the discussion ....
In the meantime ... sit back, relax and enjoy today's issue!
Your Friend,
Diane Hughes

What to Do When You're New and Broke Obvious Internet Marketing
by Leotra Fleming
I was once like so many people out there. I wanted to make money online and thought, "how hard can it be? I know how to use the internet. I know a little html, I check my email constantly, I even had my web site/blog before." I thought I knew all there was to know about how the internet works. It didn't take me long to realize that internet *marketing* was an entirely different game.
"What in the heck was I thinking?" That's what goes through my mind time and time again these days. I had found a good legitimate business to run from the Internet and set everything up for myself. In fact, I found TWO. Both sank like rocks. Why?"What was I doing wrong?" I thought.
I know you've heard this before (and if you haven't...listen up) but if you build it they won't come. It's that simple. Think about it, how would they know you were even there? It's the internet! You have to find your customers and entice them to come to your domain.
How do your family and friends know you're on the net? You told them or they asked and then you told them. You can't just sit back after you're all set up. You have to tell people, "Hey, I have this great product! Buy it here ===>."
I know you're thinking, "Leotra, that costs money and I don't have a lot of it or I may not be selling stuff in the first place." I would challenge that concept. There are two simple things you could do to boost traffic to your site or affiliate link that won't cost much, if anything.
Actually, there are three but my mission today is to talk about the first two.
The first thing you can do is advertise in ezines -- you're probably reading an ezine write now. Did you notice the "sponsor" on your way in? How about in the middle of the issue? Now think about all the other people who just got this publication in the mail. Go ahead literally stop right now and think. I'll wait...
And what about all the zillion other ezines out there? Amazing, isn't it? I know of an ezine that 15 thousand people subscribe to and how much does a middle ad cost you for this publication? $7.98 ... that's sooo much money isn't it? Geez, you may have to bring your lunch tomorrow instead of buying. Or stop smoking for a couple of days. (It was bad for you anyway right?)
You have no excuse not to advertise now that I've told you. And there are plenty of directories out there full of ezine owners just waiting for you to plunk down the Starbucks money.
"I still just can't do it." Darn you big tobacco. **shakes fist at imaginary high-rise** I'll tell you what, there is another option. Enter, thing number two.
You can write articles for the ezines. A lot of editors are super busy people. And there are books out there that can help you with how write. More time is spent reading an article than an ad anyway. Just don't make it a sales letter for your product. Ielieve it was Terry Dean who once said, "show your worth then collect the profit." Or something close to that.
Subscribe to a directory and research for 5 ezines you can advertise in and 30 you can submit articles to.

Sell Quality To Stay In Business
There is a reason why many top companies keep talking about quality. It's what keeps them in business.
Quality doesn't necessarily get you new customers, but it sure keeps your old customers coming back. Most businesses find that 80 percent of their sales come from the same 20 percent of old customers coming back again and again.
What's the difference between a movie that earns $30 million and one that earns more than $100 million at the box office? The big sales happen when a lot of people see the movie over and over again. These are essentially return customers who keep coming back to enjoy quality.
You see the quality issue come up a lot with new products and new companies. Many seem like a great idea and grow very quickly as lots of people give them a try. But if the product or service doesn't have quality, the project quickly shrinks and fails just as fast as it grew. You see this a lot with some affiliate programs, MLM companies, you name it. Your neighborhood dollar store is a museum of great ideas that didn't have the quality to keep people wanting more.
Sometimes you have to spend more and take less profit to make sure your product or service can deliver the quality necessary to keep customers returning. I recently started using PR News Wire to distribute my customers' press releases. It's a big expense and cut my profit in half. But customers appreciate the quality and tell others about their positive experience. That turns the extra expense into additional sales.

The Power of FEAR
by Cathy Bryant
Why is it that so many people SAY they want to operate their own business, but then fail to take any action when required to do so?
Fear. Pure and simple.
They're afraid.
Afraid of failure.
Afraid of losing money.
Afraid of what others may think.
Afraid of having to alter their lifestyle to accommodate their new venture.
Afraid of all SORTS of things.
Well, here's a fact that may surprise many of you who find yourself thinking, "That describes me perfectly. Wish I were unafraid, like the people who have already begun a business of their own."
Do you think those of us who own our own businesses AREN'T AFRAID?
Don't kid yourself.
Those of us who operate our own businesses go through the same mental anguish that the fence sitters do. We're afraid of the very same things.
So what makes it possible for us to put the FEAR aside and go on to do what needs to be done in order to achieve our dreams of entrepreneurial freedom?
Simply this -
The PAIN of being tied down to a job that we hated and being unhappy with our present situation was greater than the FEAR of failure.
When you get to that point in your life, you will KNOW.
You will KNOW that you have no other choice but to take action. To stop finding all sorts of excuses why you can't think about doing anything until tomorrow. Or until next week. Or next month. Or next year.
Have YOU reached that point yet?

Instant plug-in scripts that help you profit...
"Countdown to extra profits"
by Michel Komarov
Have you seen those popup windows that have a timer in them?
You know the ones where if you respond within a certain period of time you'll get a discount or extra bonuses. Then when you don't respond the window automatically closes, never to be seen again.
This device can be a really powerful psychological sales generating device when used in conjunction with good web copy to encourage people to order quicker.
Now's your chance to do the same with the script I'm about to give you.
For the very best results, set this up so your countdown window only appears once (this is controlled by your PopUp window JavaScript).
Although I'm giving you the popup code here for this, I highly recommend you use this popup window generator for all your popup generating code -- it's the best I've seen so far! http://www.popupmaster.com/
Here's how to install "Countdown" script...
The first piece of script should be placed above the </head>tag of your PopUp-Window's HTML source code:
<script language="JavaScript"><!--
// Script created by http://icoder.com
// Subscribe to freescripts@icoder.com for this
// and many other essential web site scripts.
window.onload=tuneCount;
function tuneCount() {
counter = null;
if ( document.forms.length >0
&& null != (counter = document.forms[0].count)
&& !isNaN(parseInt(counter.value)) )
setTimeout("refreshCount()", 1000);
}
function refreshCount() {
if (--counter.value >0)
setTimeout("refreshCount()", 1000);
else window.close();
}
-->
</script>
Place the second piece into the source code of your PopUp page anywhere between the <form><input type="hidden" name="PHPSESSID" value="3ada1cd10572c3b1339c50cc5c58a61c" /><input type="hidden" name="PHPSESSID" value="a58b4be438de447c7e49b83be37b53fe" /><input type="hidden" name="PHPSESSID" value="a58b4be438de447c7e49b83be37b53fe" />and </form>tags.
The position you choose is where counter will appear:
<input type="button" name="count" value="30"
style="border:none;padding:0;background-color:white;color:black;"/>
You can edit the value to set up number of seconds (default is 30). You can also edit the style to tune font of the counter. (default is background-color:white; color:black;)
That's all there is to it, if you follow this link you can see how it should look when you've installed it on your web page.
For a more detailed explanation on what JavaScripts are and how to install them please send a blank email here: mailto:jshelp@icoder.com
If you need any help or advice in installing this or any of my other plug-in scripts, just let me know and I'll do my best to help ;-)

A man had been crossing a street when a car slammed into him. The pedestrian sued the motorist, whose lawyer made the following statement at the end of the trial.
"Your honor, my client was not at fault. He has been driving a car for thirty years, and has never had an accident, nor gotten so much as a speeding ticket. I do not think I need to say any more."
Unimpressed, the lawyer for the plaintiff rose. "Your honor, since counsel insists on bringing up the matter of experience, may I remind the court that my client has been walking for over seventy years..."
